University of Wisconsin-Madison, shortly termed as U Dub, University of Wisconsin, Wisconsin, UW, UW-Madison, or Madison, is a public flagship, land-grant, sea-grant research university situated in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. It was established in 1848 and became the first public university founded in Wisconsin. It is a flagship campus of the University of Wisconsin System. The first graduate degree was awarded in 1854, while first Ph.D. degree in 1892.
As per the Academic Ranking of World Universities, it has been ranked at the 28th position in the world and 21st in the U.S. for its academic and research performance.
