Monash University is a public research university located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was established in 1958 by an Act of the State Parliament of Victoria. It was named after Sir John Monash, a famous Australian General and became the first university in the country to be named after an individual. The teaching sessions were started at Clayton in 1961 with 357 students. With the time, Monash grew rapidly and earned a reputed place among other universities worldwide.
